Rhondda Past & Present

History and heritage is present all around us in our everyday life. Through buildings, structures in the landscape, parks and statues, we can gain insight into the activities and achievements of people in the past. When we walk through our towns and villages, we may be more aware of the importance of some places than others.

Through this website we aim at providing information so that everyone can learn about the history of the Rhondda and form their own opinion about what is valuable and why. An important aspect of Our Valleys Heritage is to develop ways in which communities can share with "experts" their perceptions of significance and value which can aid future planning and development. The project will work towards creating a database which will be available online and include photos and historical information about the places and spaces that are important to us.
